December, 2022, we are very happy to participate in the project IAM4RAIL, which is a European Project part of the ERJU projects in the Horizon Europe framework. TUDelft is affiliated partner of ProRail, and we will focus on development of adhesion management solutions, on-board monitoring and maintenance strategies and development of embankment stability tools.

April 1, 2021, together with colleagues from Pavement and Railway Engineering, Anupam Kumar, Katerina Varveri, and Zhen Yang, we are organizing a special issue about the topic Monitoring Transportation Infrastructures in the Open Access journal Materials - MDPI. November, 2018, I am a visiting scholar at the University of California, Berkeley for three months. Funded by the H2020 project RISEN. I had the chance to interact with many colleagues, in the photo with Prof. Carlos Daganzo.


October 20, 2018, invitations to CM2018 special issue of the journal WEAR were sent on Saturday. The remit of the Wear Special Issue is narrower than the conference (only about 50 papers can be accepted); thus, some very good papers could not be selected for this volume, though some of them might be selected for Journal of Rail and Rapid Transit and Tribology: Materials, Surface and Interfaces. The guest editors of the special issue WEAR are: Zili Li - chair CM2018 (Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands), Mats Berg (Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden), David Fletcher (University of Sheffield, UK), Paul Meehan (University of Queensland, Australia), and Alfredo Núñez (Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands).

October 19, 2018, I'm very happy to officially have concluded all my tenure track related agreements. Since November 2018, I'm assistant professor (universiteit docent) in the topic "Data-based maintenance for railway infrastructure".

September 28, 2018, we are very happy to have organized a memorable CM2018 11th International Conference on Contact Mechanics and Wear of Rail/Wheel Systems, 24-27 September 2018. In the Youtube Channel CM2018-TUDelft you can see presentations that were video recorded.

July 11, 2018, I will join the editorial board for the journal Applied Soft Computing. The journal promotes an integrated view of soft computing to solve real life problems. The editorial board can be seen in this link: Editorial Board.

July 8, 2018, I am attending and participating at the IEEE World Congress on Computational Intelligence, IEEE WCCI 2018, 2018 Congress on Evolutionary Computation (IEEE CEC 2018), Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 8-13 July, 2018. I had the chance to meet Paul Werbos, thanks to him we can train neural networks using backpropagation.

May 24, 2018, the final conference of the H2020 project NeTIRail-INFRA was held in Ljubljana, Slovenia. TUDelft participated mainly in two task: in WP2 with research about short pitch corrugation and in WP4 with research about deployment of ABA measurements using trains in operation. January 5, 2018, we are organizing the 11th International Conference on Contact Mechanics and Wear of Rail/Wheel Systems (CM2018). The final deadline for abstract is 20th January 2018. We have already received more than 180, it is a great sucess! We are really looking forward to seeing you all in Delft.

22 October- 1 November, 2017, we have conducted a succesfull measurement campaign for the project NeTIRail-INFRA in the test rig of AFER near Faurei (link AFER). We managed to measure the condition of the rails on board and track side, with speeds up to 220km/h. June 21, 2017, I was invited to be Track Editor for the topic "Decision and Control in Railways", 15th IFAC Symposium on Control in Transportation Systems (CTS2018) at Savona Campus, University of Genova, Italy. The Proceedings of the symposium are indexed by Scopus and ISI-WOS.

  • December 1, 2020, Dr. Hongrui Wang started his tenure track period as assistant professor in the field of Artificial Intelligence for Engineering Structures, at Delft University of Technology.

  • December 3, 2014, Maider Oregui won the Young Researcher Award of the International Union of Railways UIC to recognize young engineers and researchers who have made significant contributions in rail research and innovation. See more about the award at: (link)

  • October 8, 2014, Maria Molodova won the Dutch Institute World Class Maintenance Innovation Research Award for her PhD thesis. Prof. Dollevoet received the award on her behalve. A picture of the ceremony can be seen in this link.
